LHI is a non-profit organization based in Portland, OR that has awarded over $100,000 in home ownership assistance grants to individuals and families throughout Oregon. The financial assistance that LHI has provided has definitely lowered the minority home ownership gap. Through continued partnership financial support, LHI plans to award thousands more to additional deserving families in the future.

LHI'S mission is to close the homeownership gap for Latinos and other
low-income individuals and families.

The Latino population in the Portland metro area is flourishing wiht more families moving into the area to join those already well established here. One key to their success will be buying a home. Homeownership is the most stable wealth-building tool for a family. Yet, the current homeownership rate for Latinos in Oregon is about 37%, which is significantly less than the national and statewide average according to 2000 Census data.
