The Latino population in the Portland metro area is flourishing with more families moving into the area to join those already well established here. One key to their success will be buying a home. Homeownership is the most stable wealth-building tool for a family. Yet, the current homeownership rate for Latinos in Oregon is about 37%, which is significantly less than the national and statewide average, according to 2000 Census data.
